More Love and Logic

Another jewel from my studying this week:

Parents of young children should allow them to make mistakes and learn from them.  Every mistake is an opportunity to learn.  The price tag of learning from mistakes made by a three year old, is much lower than the price tag of learning paid by a 20 year old.

Keep these up! I love them. I actually have that book on hold at the library. I've been wanting to read it for a long time and never got around to it. Thanks for pushing me to move forward. So so true....all of it.

I love consequences for kids, and I'm glad I ran across it before you and John were too old to benefit from it.
The problem many parents make with this program is giving kids choice on big things. Kids need to be secure in the fact that their parents are still in control, not them. Choices of small things give them practice at making decisions and feeling capable. I like capable independent kids as a teacher. One in ten are.
